Review of Writers Work
Registration for the site is straightforward. Once you have created your account, you will be given a site walkthrough that will show you how to set up your profile, how to access the University Library, and how to start finding a writing job.
The Homepage Overview:
This is designed to help keep you motivated and on track by allowing you to see how you are doing in terms of the number of characters and words you have typed and the length of time you have been writing. You will also have quick access to the most recent documents you have been working on which enables you to pick up from right where you left off.
Further down the homepage is an area where you will see more information such as your job search progress. This is where prospective employers will be contacting you if they like what they see on your profile, so you should be checking this frequently.
You will need to enroll in the Writer’s Marketplace by creating your profile with a title and description and you only need one example of your work in your portfolio to get started.
This is where prospective employers go to find a freelance writer. Here, they can browse by using keywords such as “editor”, “proofreader” or “writer”. This enables the employer to find the right person for the job. Then, they can message that writer directly through the platform.
This feature contains comprehensive video tutorials and which content is added weekly to help you learn more and keep you updated.
To check the overall readability, grammar, and spelling of your work, you will have access to the document editor.
When you are working on a document, there will be a graph icon in the right-hand toolbar. When you click on this, the editor will immediately scan your document and update you continuously on your content and you can just leave the editor on as you continue writing.
Tasks and Projects features:
This is kind of like your own to-do list. You will name each task, add a short description and nest them into specific projects. You can also see a breakdown of the time you have spent on each project and task which will help you determine your future pricing for your work since you will have a better idea of how much time a given project will take.
Using this feature, you can predetermine the time you want to work on the task you have created. You will set yourself ‘x’ number of words to write each day. You can create a new goal from the goals page or you can set it from the Homepage.
Here you will find a breakdown of all your writing statistics. The data from your statistics will be pulled from the document editor. So, when you work on any given document, it will automatically be added to your stats.
White Noise Feature:
If you find that you work better with some background music, the Document Editor has a feature that will allow you to choose from a list of ambient sounds that may help your creativity flow.
Just click on the headphones icon at the top of the page to make your selection and you can even layer them together. For example, you can pair the “Peaceful Thunder” and “Outdoor Serenity” sounds.
You can request a refund on your lifetime or monthly membership within 30 days of creating your account. However, if you have purchased any add-ons to your membership, such as the “Toolkit Bundle” or Premium Courses Bundle, these would not be refundable.
If you need to update or change your billing information, there is a contact email to do this.

Final Thoughts on Writers Work
Now, you don’t need to join a platform such as Writers Work to become a successful freelance writer. However, the tools, training, and support that are included for the price make a great deal of sense to me.
Working from home can be a very solitary business and in the online world, it is good to have a one-stop-shop place to find the things you need without ‘cherry-picking’ them from all over the internet. This can be time-wasting, frustrating and costly.
Writers Work blends all of the necessary ingredients to create a user-friendly platform for you to find your place in the online writing world. I believe it is a good choice, especially for the person who is new to writing and needs support and guidance as well as helpful tools and training.
Writing is a competitive job and in order to succeed, it requires dedication, perseverance, continued training, and the ability to discipline yourself. As a professional, you will need to write from home on a schedule without allowing yourself to become distracted by the dogs, friends, family, neighbors, TV, or the internet!
