Is Jeunesse A Scam? Please Read My Review Before Joining!

Hello,  I welcome you to my review of Jeunesse! Are you looking for a way to generate some income in your retirement?  Well, you are not alone.  Many of us are needing to supplement those funds and one of the options is to join a multi-level marketing company.  Jeunesse is such a company and I am here to report to you on the business opportunity offered through this MLM.  Is Jeunesse a Scam?  Is Jeunesse legit?  Please read my review before joining is all I ask of you because I do not want you to lose your hard-earned money on something that is not going to give you a return.

I am not in any way affiliated with Jeunesse Global, or any other MLM.  My only goal is to research these network marketing companies and give you as clear and concise a report as I can.  It is easy to be seduced by glamorous looking people in exotic settings, driving expensive cars, and living in luxurious houses.  But that is just the window-dressing used to lure you into something that you may find will end up costing you more than you bargained for.

Let’s look at this company, shall we?

What is Jeunesse?

Jeunesse is a multi-level marketing company in the beauty/anti-aging space.

According to their promotional video, Jeunesse calls itself “A global movement” with 700,000 Distributors in over 140 countries and with 1.5 billion dollars in sales in 2019.  They refer to their Distributors as being in a ‘business partnership” with the company.  In fact, you are simply selling Jeunesse products and recruiting others into your downline to make money for those above you.  Not really a business partnership.

Who is Jeunesse For?

The Jeunesse ‘business opportunity’ is for anyone who would like to generate some income in direct sales from their home through their replicated website and social media, or by approaching family, friends and inner circle to persuade them to purchase the products and/or recruit them in their downline so as to earn commissions from a team effort.

My Review of Jeunesse

Jeunesse was founded in 2009 by husband and wife team Randy Ray and Wendy Lewis.  The company has offices around the world including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Mexico, Seoul, and Tokyo.

Jeunesse features a collection of products called the Youth Enhancement System or Y.E.S.  which work synergistically to help keep you young.   This consists of their best-selling skincare products and supplements which, when used together, they say, will produce optimum results.

One of the best-sellers in this Y.E.S. system is a supplement called Finiti.  It contains vitamins C, B6, and E as well as Folate (which is a B vitamin) and CoQ10 (an anti-oxidant).   At $89.98 for a bottle containing 60 capsules, and a recommended dosage of 2 capsules 2 times a day, which will last you 15 days.  This works out to $180 a month, just for the one supplement recommended in the Y.E.S collection because you have to take them all for optimal results, right?  Wow.  Even if these products work as well as they claim them to, that is a lot of money for people to be shelling out every month.

I don’t see anything different or revolutionary about their products.  Other multi-level marketing companies such as this one, are basically selling us the same hype.

Of course, none of Jeunesse’s products have been evaluated nor approved by the Food and Drug Administration.

compensation plan

The compensation plan is, as ever with these MLM’s, extremely complicated.  So I have broken it down to the basics for you.

There are six ways to earn with Jeunesse:

1. Retail Sales – you purchase products at wholesale, sell them for retail to your customers, and keep the difference.
2. First-order Bonuses – when you first join you can choose from different business starter packages, depending on your budget.   You earn points for selling these products and once you have acquired 100 points, you become what is termed a “Distributor” and this is when you ‘start your own business’. At this point, you need to start recruiting your family and friends to purchase starter packages below you so you can start earning commissions from them (you’re downline).  First-order bonuses range from $25-$250, depending on how much product you sell.
3. Team Commissions – you will need to build two teams (also known as the right and left ‘legs’) below you (more on that later) and you can earn points on the products your team members purchase.  When one of your teams (or legs) reaches 600 points and the other leg 300 points, you earn a $35 team commission, which is called a ‘cycle bonus’.  This is a recurring bonus, so each time the teams reach that 600/300 goal, you get $35. The more products your teams sell, the more commissions you earn. This is where the pressure will be on to recruit as many people as you can because this is how you will earn your commission and generate money for those in your upline and at the top of the pyramid.  This is the essence of multi-level marketing.
4. Leadership Matching Bonus – the more you get your team members to sell and recruit, the more you will earn for yourself and those above you.  When those on your first level (people that you recruited yourself), get the people below them in their legs to purchase and sell more, you may receive a 20% commission on those sales.  In other words, you will get a 20% commission from your first level of recruits.  To achieve greater success, you must be continuously recruiting people to be on your first level so that you can take advantage of this recurring 20% commission.  In fact, this bonus can extend to those in your second and third level (recruits of your recruits) through 7 levels, with  each level paying out less of a percentage to you like this:
   • 1 st Level = 20%
   • 2nd Level = 15%
   • 3rd Level = 10%
   • 4th – 7th Level = 5%
5. Customer Acquisition Incentive – when you have 5 active customers in a month’s timeframe, your leadership matching bonus goes up to 25% on your first Level Team Match.  If you have 10 active customers this increases to 30%.
6. Diamond Pool – this is a shared bonus pool made from 3% of the Jeunesse global product volume. This is divided based on the shares that each ‘Diamond Leader’ has accumulated.  What those shares are is not clearly stated.

In order to be eligible for team commissions you must:

• sell or purchase a minimum of 100 PV (Personal Volume) points a month and
• personally recruit two distributors in your downline who are actively selling 100 PV as well, each month

This may not sound all that complicated, but I assure you when you look at the Ranks Chart within Jeunesse, you see how complex it can get.

Jeunesse utilizes the binary compensation plan which is very common in the multi-level marketing arena.  What it means is that you have two ‘legs’, a right and a left.  Each new member you personally recruit goes into one of these two legs.  One leg is referred to as a ‘Power Leg’ and the other as a ‘Profit Leg’.  When a new member is recruited, they go into one of these legs.

The Power Leg benefits from the automatic placement of new recruits, not only from the person who recruited them but those in the upline as well.  This is termed ‘spillover’.  This allows for the profits from gaining a new distributor in the downline to be shared with the upline, no matter who recruited that new member.  However, in the Profit Leg, there is no ‘spillover’.  This leg will only grow with the individually sponsored downline so the idea is to balance these two legs so as to make maximum profit.  Whew!  MLM compensation plans give me a headache!  Here is the Jeunesses Compensation Plan in its entirety.  Please don’t get a headache!

No matter how I explain it to you, one thing is clear.  Despite how beautifully produced their website and promotional videos are, the only people making any money at Jeunesse are those at the very top, and by that I mean the top 1%-2%.  If you can get in on a multi-level marketing business as it is just launching, and

you have a lot of family, friends, and social networking skills,  experience with this type of business model, and you are an aggressive and persuasive person, you stand to make some money.

The truth is though, more than 99% of people who participate in this type of venture don’t make any money at all.  In fact, most lose money.  Don’t take my word for it, here is an article that gives you the statistics from the Consumer Awareness Institute.  I am not making this up!

income disclosure

The Jeunesse income disclosure statement, such as it is, can be found on their website.  It is just for the United States.  I could not find a global statement.  I have taken a screenshot and indicated with arrows the relevant figures and points of interest.

They are not very clear with their income disclosure, are they?  60% made ‘more than’ $245 and the rest ‘made less’ gives us a vague figure. This is gross, by the way, not net.  Most income disclosures show us a far bigger picture in greater detail but I could find nothing like this for Jeunesse.  What you can see, however, is, as I told you, the top 1% are making the real income here and it has taken them years of selling/recruiting to get there.

Also, note the last item with the arrow.  There are expenses to running any business of course,  and this must be taken into consideration.  Looking at the bar in the top margin, 20% made nothing at all.    I do find it strange that I could not find a global income disclosure either.  If I ever do, you can be sure I will post it here.

lawsuits

I don’t know where to begin with all the lawsuits that have been filed against this company.  One of the most recent is a class-action lawsuit filed in 2018 against Jeunesse and one of its top distributors.  It alleges that the company is operating an illegal pyramid scheme in which the distributors are rewarded for recruiting others into the company rather than for selling products.  This is a very serious allegation and you can view the 30-page document here.

Yikes! That alone should be enough of a red flag for you.  I know it is for me.

Oh yes.  In fact, there are so many, it is easier if I just let you read for yourself some of the complaints about Jeunesse that have been sent to the FTC.

Suffice to say, I will not be joining Jeunesse any time now or in the future.  Please, beware.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

• authentic products
• can work from anywhere
• been in business a long time

Cons:

• the flawed MLM business model
• many lawsuits/complaints
• have to recruit/hassle family and friends
• the products are not FDA approved

Final Thoughts About Jeunesse

So, if there are so many complaints and lawsuits and everything else, how come Jeunesse is making so much money you may ask?

Well, they have a very slick marketing campaign going on and the images from their website are very attractive.  As I said at the beginning, they lure you in with the dream of this amazing ‘lifestyle’ and they are very, very good at doing this.  That is why I created this checklist so that you can be aware of what to consider before joining this MLM or any other one because the cards are just not stacked in your favor with this type of business model.

So, is Jeunesse a scam?  Well, when recruitment is emphasized over product sales, as is alleged with this company, that answer would be yes.   The way I look at it is that if there are all these red flags, lawsuits, and complaints, something is not right and I would absolutely not recommend that you join this company if you are looking to generate some income in your retirement.  The choice, of course, is always yours.
