A Little Bit About Us

We are Colette and Philip and we are the creators and owners of this website.

We have now been married for over thirty years but right after we first met we quickly discovered we shared a passion for travel. Soon after, and having married on the island of Barbados, we gave up our careers in sports therapy and law and set off on our travels.

We have lived and worked in many parts of the world, including the Cayman Islands, the Turks and Caicos Islands, Palau, Saipan, Belize, the Bahamas, and Ecuador, South America. Along the way, we also set up and operated several businesses in the US, including one which was wiped out by the financial crisis of 2008

Although our love of travel was still strong, we finally came to the conclusion, a few years ago, that we could not keep doing that forever and so we began to look for a permanent home. We found it and now live in beautiful México.

We love our current lifestyle. Our days are spent researching, writing, and working on this website. Because we want to live to a ripe old age, we also exercise daily and do a variety of activities such as weight-training, swimming, spinning, water aerobics, and Yoga.  When we can, we also indulge our great passion, which is scuba diving.

Our Retirement Income Was Not Enough

We do not regret, for one moment, our chosen lifestyle, but the work we did, for the most part, was not particularly lucrative and we had little opportunity to put funds aside for our retirement. What savings we did have were wiped out by the loss of our business following the disastrous 2008 financial crisis.

Although we did have some success in replenishing some of our savings, it became apparent that we were not going to have sufficient income for our retirement, at least not enough to maintain us in the manner to which we hoped to become accustomed! So, we decided we had to do something about it and…..

The Search Was On

We spent nearly two years researching possible additional income streams and, literally, nothing was off the table, including another ‘bricks and mortar’ business. By then, we had made our decision to move to Latin America, although we had not, at that stage, chosen México.

Although we were physically in good shape and had no (known) health issues, we decided that, at our ages, we really did not want to get involved in another bricks and mortar business, particularly because, from experience, we knew that, as an expatriate in a foreign country, the challenges were going to be much greater.

We both grew up without computers and, although we have since allowed ourselves to be dragged (sometimes screaming) into the digital world, it is an area we were never completely comfortable with. Notwithstanding, we decided that the best option for us was to throw ourselves into that digital world and create an online business.

We quickly discovered that there is a bewildering variety of things we could do online but after many more months of research and deliberation, not to mention a few false starts, we finally settled on AFFILIATE MARKETING. But it was a difficult choice because there really is so much opportunity to make additional income online.

Just Keeping It Real With Some Basic Facts

The average lifespan in 1900 was 47 years.

Today, a 65-year-old person can expect to live another 20 years or more! Great news, Boomers!

Currently, there are approximately 74 million of us Boomers in the United States alone. We are the largest living adult population. An incredible achievement.

We can still hear Roger Daltrey singing “My Generation” and the line that makes us smile is “I hope I die before I get old”…well, hey folks, we did get old(er) but we are the generation that also started the 70’s jogging boom, aerobics, and roller disco, to name just a few athletic pursuits that helped us stay fitter and healthier than any previous generation. We were, still are, and always shall be, the coolest!

Our lifespans are longer, as a generation than any previous one, but the reality is that many of us haven’t saved enough for our retirement.

In a recent article in the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), quoting a Fidelity Investments Report, we are told that a whopping 48% of us are NOT on track to be able to afford basic expenses in our retirement. Yikes!!!

There is no doubt that needing to supplement our retirement income is becoming a reality for many of us going forward.
